Journal Summary 2 Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Journal Summary 2 - Research Paper Example In his article Aversano attempts to explore the reality of dream in human existence in the context of art and aesthetics. In the paper ââ¬Å"Bad Dreams Are Made Of Thisâ⬠Leo Dolias has explored ââ¬Å"bad dreamsâ⬠from an existential perspective. While siding with Bossââ¬â¢s theoretical perspective of dream he thoroughly compares his own existential approach with Freud and Jungââ¬â¢s psychoanalytical view. Since, for Dolias, traditional Freudian view of dream often falls short to explain the experiences of bad-dreams, psychoanalysts need to add an existential dimension with Bossââ¬â¢s theoretical approach to dream, as he says, ââ¬Å"I also intendâ⬠¦to bring experience and theory closer together, to allow for a creative interaction between theory, Heideggerââ¬â¢s philosophy, my views and experiencesâ⬠(Dolias, 2010, p. 238). According Dolias, the difference between Freud and Jungââ¬â¢s psychoanalytical view and Bossââ¬â¢s approach is: while the psychoanalytical approach considers dreams as ââ¬Å"masked unconscious messageâ⬠and consequently appears to be mis leading, the second one asserts that bad dreams are the illumination of ââ¬Å"oneââ¬â¢s experience of beingâ⬠(Dolias, 2010, p. 239). Rather than being a ââ¬Å"subject-object interrelationâ⬠, the process of being itself is the ââ¬Å"dreaming realityâ⬠of an individual. Here Dolias elaborates Bossââ¬â¢s idea further to apply in his patientââ¬â¢s Marthaââ¬â¢s case. He notes that since Martha had an anxiety about something ominous in her journey, she would view it in her dream because in dreams her anxious being can reveal itself to the fullest. It further implies that her dreaming self is essentially her anxious being, which remains away in her waking state. This dreaming self of Martha basically refers to Heideggerââ¬â¢s Dasein. Since Marthaââ¬â¢s Dasein determines her being on a journey in an ominous environment, this anxious Dasein reveals itself fully in her state. (Dolias, 2010) In the article ââ¬Å"The

A Hospital Room Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
A Hospital Room - Essay Example There was also a big photo of Mother Teresa placed on a shelf. The two sceneries, as mentioned before, were giving a pleasing look. In the first scenery, there was a big blue sea and birds were shown as flying in the air. There were also two hands seemed like praying for the health of people. In the second scenery, an array of colors was shown which was also adding to the overall pleasing environment of the hospital room. As far as the internal climate of the hospital room is concerned, I would say that it was normal and a bit inclined towards cold temperature. There were early summers those days so the temperature was kept a bit cold to make patients feel good. Overall, the environment of the hospital room and the services that were provided to me asà the patient reflected the sense of a healing environment. In a hospital room with healing environment, the focus is not just to provide good treatment to patients, but also to provideà the healing and memorable experience to them. The behavior of the nursing staff and that of the doctor was extremely good. There was also the facility of the hearing light music in the room using the hands-free device. There were also two comfortable chairs placed near each of the three beds for visitors and caretakers. Another attractive feature of the room was that it accompanied three small bathrooms each for each of the three patients admitted in the room. The bed in my room had side rails that could be raised and lowered using a remote control.
